GRASSROOTS MOBILISATION & ENGAGEMENT

At Girls Gone Political (GGP), grassroots engagement is at the core of everything we do. We believe that real change begins within communities, so we work across rural, peri-urban, and urban areas to bring young women together and empower them to take part in political and public life.

Our movement-building efforts focus on uniting young women under a shared goal—breaking down barriers to their participation in leadership and governance.

We provide strategic support to young female candidates in electoral processes, offering mentorship, capacity building, and hands-on assistance with campaign mobilization. From organizing community rallies to conducting voter education, we ensure these candidates have the support they need to make their voices heard.

Beyond elections, our outreach programs encourage ongoing civic engagement through workshops, dialogues, and local community watch initiatives that monitor elections and promote transparency. We are nurturing a network of real people, real stories of young women, genuine solidarity and accountability.

CAPACITY BUILDING TRAINING & WORKSHOPS FOR ELECTORAL PROCESSES & CAMPAIGNS

Empowering young women to lead starts with equipping them with the right skills and knowledge. At Girls Gone Political, we offer specialized training and workshops in partnership with the Electoral Commission of Zambia which is the Electoral Management Body (EMB).

We have designed this to demystify electoral processes, strengthen campaign strategies, and build leadership confidence. From voter education to campaign management, our programs are crafted to ensure young women have the tools they need to navigate the political landscape with confidence and clarity. We’re dedicated to creating a new generation of informed, capable, and fearless leaders who can drive change and compete on equal footing in Zambia’s political arena.

POLICY AND LEGISLATIVE REFORMS

At Girls Gone Political (GGP), we are dedicated to driving meaningful change through policy advocacy and legislative reform. Our work focuses on ensuring that the voices of young women are heard in the halls of power and that their needs and rights are reflected in national laws and policies. We actively engage in the legislative process by drafting and submitting policy recommendations, presenting motions, and filing petitions to Parliament.

Our approach is rooted in thorough research and consultation with stakeholders, including grassroots communities, young women leaders, and civil society organizations. We strive to highlight issues that disproportionately affect women, youth, and persons with disabilities groups, pushing for legal frameworks that promote inclusivity, equality, and social justice.

Through strategic advocacy, we have made significant contributions to policy discussions on gender equality, electoral reform, and youth engagement. Our efforts have led to the presentation of critical motions aimed at improving the representation and participation of Women in governance and decision-making. Additionally, we mobilize grassroots support to back petitions, amplifying the call for accountability and transparency from policymakers

CIVIC AND VOTER EDUCATION

At Girls Gone Political (GGP), we're passionate about empowering girls and young women to understand their rights and responsibilities. Our mission reaches into communities, religious institutions, schools, colleges, and universities, inspiring the next generation of female leaders who are eager to dive into governance, politics, and leadership.

We believe that knowing one's civic rights and responsibilities is critical for everyone, especially young women. Instruments like the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) emphasize the right to political participation, reminding us that every voice matters in shaping our societies. That’s why we created 'She Votes, She Leads', A powerful handbook on civic engagement and education that focuses on understanding democracy, structures of governance, the importance of girls and young women exercising and enjoying their civic rights, and women’s rights.

But we know we can’t do this alone. GGP actively seeks partnerships with schools, activists, individuals, partner organizations, and other advocacy groups.

ACTIVISM, ADVOCACY AND AWARENESS

At Girls Gone Political, we’re unapologetically pushing for change. We advocate for the human rights, visibility, and leadership of girls and young women in the political arena aligning our efforts with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 (Quality Education), 5 (Gender Equality), 11(Reducing Inequalities), 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

Through dynamic campaigns, strategic alliances, and relentless advocacy, we want to amplify the importance of diverse young female voices at every level of decision-making. We refuse to accept a status quo where young women are sidelined; instead, we are building a movement that empowers them to occupy spaces, own them, challenge norms, and shape policies that matter. This is more than a call to action—it’s a revolution for a future led by strong, authentic young women

GGP BOLA (FOOTBALL)

GGP Bola is our innovative initiative that merges the love for soccer with the power of civic education. By bringing young women together on the field, we create an engaging platform to promote civic awareness, voter education, and community participation. Through friendly matches and interactive sessions, GGP Bola uses the spirit of teamwork and competition to encourage young women to learn about their rights, responsibilities, and the importance of active citizenship.

It’s not just about winning the game but also about building confidence, leadership skills, and fostering a sense of community among young female participants, making them champions both on and off the field

STUDENT LEADERSHIP OUTREACH

GGP supports young female students to step into leadership positions within their institutions. We encourage them to advocate for issues that matter, from gender equality to campus safety, while developing the confidence and resilience needed to thrive in public service.

By interlinking these aspiring young female leaders with experienced mentors, we ensure they have the guidance, resources, and networks to navigate the challenges of leadership.

Our goal is to nurture a culture of active engagement, where young women are not just participants but leaders in shaping student policies and campus life
